How To Recycle Your Christmas Tree
Real Christmas trees can go in your green organics bin when you are done celebrating with them! Here's how:
1. Remove all ornaments, tinsel, decorations, stands, etc.
2. Cut tree into 4 foot or smaller pieces.
3. Place into your curbside green bin, making sure it doesn't overflow.
Wreaths, garlands, mistletoe and other decorations made of natural greenery can also go in your green bin! Just be sure to remove all decorations like ribbons or wires.
If you live in an area that doesn't have curbside organics (green bin) service, you can also drop off your tree at any landfill or transfer station in the county, where it will be recycled. Please note that these facilities may charge a fee.
Flocked trees are not accepted in the green bin. The powder used to flock trees is made of chemicals that can't be processed at our local compost facilities.
Artificial Christmas trees are not recylable. If you have an artificial Christmas tree that you want to dispose of, try donating it to a local thrift store so it can be enjoyed another family!
